OTR/L Occupational therapist

Hi, I’m Becki! I am a Mom, pediatric OT, and Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs) Specialist providing bodywork, support, and care to infants and their families in MA & RI. Tethered Oral Tissues, more commonly known as lip, cheek, and tongue-ties, are oral restrictions that impact your baby’s ability to effectively eat, sleep, and often coincide with a variety of symptoms that impact overall function. As a mother who has experienced the ups and downs, and let’s not forget the twists and turns, of the tongue-tie journey with my own family, I am passionate about helping others to grow, flourish, and thrive with TOTs! I am looking forward to hearing from you and being a member of your TOTs team!

Becki Rebello

Pediatric Occupational Therapist, Oral Tie Specialist, Tummy Time Certified, Mom

There are very few times in life that are as beautiful and challenging as the months surrounding the birth of your baby. Your emotions may have you feeling vulnerable, strong, weak, gracious and overwhelmed, often all in the same day! Then, if your child has a tongue tie and experiences difficulties with feeding, sleeping, and constant discomfort/fussiness… your emotions may go to the next level! You are not alone Momma! I want to help your family shift from struggling and trying to get through each day to growing, flourishing and thriving!

Hi, My name is Becki and I am a mom and pediatric occupational therapist working with infants and families in southeastern MA & RI to optimize the growth and development of our little ones! I specialize in working with infants who have oral restrictions (TOTs: Tethered Oral Tissues aka Tongue, Lip, & Buccal Ties), oral dysfunction/feeding difficulties, body tension, and asymmetries (torticollis, head flattening/molding/ head turning preference). As a Momma whose baby was born with oral restrictions and experienced many of the challenging symptoms that accompany them, I am passionate about spreading education and awareness within our community and helping families to identify structural and functional symptoms of TOTs, provide body work/hands-on manual therapy techniques and  individualized therapeutic interventions to enhance your little one’s overall function and development!

I offer in-home 1:1 sessions, virtual sessions and Tummy Time For TOTs group sessions where we are building a community of families who can learn and grow together, please reach out via phone or email!

I have received my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and additional training through Talk Tools for Assessment and Remediation of TOTs, certification in therapeutic Tummy Time Method, and I am also a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue-Tie Professionals (IATP).

What is bodywork?

Bodywork includes a variety of highly skilled techniques, therapies, and manipulations targeted to remediate postural asymmetries, nervous system dysregulation, atypical movement patterns, birth trauma, and body tension. It is important to find a bodyworker that is trained and experienced in working with oral ties and dysfunction. Who can be a Bodyworker? Occupational Therapists, Chiropractors, Osteopathic Doctors, Cranial Sacral Therapist, Massage Therapists, and Physical Therapists.

Why is Bodywork so Beneficial?

There is a common saying amongst practitioners who work with TOTs… “Your tongue is literally connected to your toes”. Hmmm… I don’t know about you, but my anatomy class didn’t teach me that one! But it’s true!

There is an amazing web of connective tissue called fascia beneath our skin that reinforces, surrounds, and allows for movement between, around, and throughout most structures of the body (i.e. muscles, tendons, organs, blood vessels, nerves, etc.). There are various “lines” or sheets of fascial tissue that create this matrix, one of which is called The Deep Front Line. This line attaches to the base of the tongue and runs through the chest, diaphragm, abdomen, legs, feet and attaches to the toes. (See image below).

Deep Front Line

Bodywork, cont.

Fascial tissue is a 3-dimensional web connecting all parts of the body, if one area is tightened and restricted, say the fascial tissue of the tongue, the tension will effect the other parts of the fascial line. Consequently, your body will compensate for these restrictions and try to function the best it can under these circumstances, which may result is some atypical patterns or symptoms that are “common”, but NOT normal among infants, i.e. abnormal posture(s), reflux, gastrointestinal issues, spinal c-curve, head turning preferences, colic symptoms, Torticollis, and many more… Body work will reduce tension, improve posture, and reorganize the body’s nervous system to promote “normal” or “typical” patterns of movement, growth, and development. Body work also strengthens, elongates, and increases the range of motion of muscles surrounding the restricted areas, which is why it is so beneficial to do pre and post surgical release. The therapeutic services I provide are all targeted to improve your little one’s overall function and get you and your family thriving!
